More and more families are getting trampolines. You like the idea but are wondering just how long does it take to put together a trampoline?

If you are planning on getting a trampoline for family fun, you need to be aware of the building process. The manufacturers will include instructions, but these can be tricky to follow. You need to understand just how much work is involved before you buy.

For a large outdoor trampoline, it takes approximately 2 to 2 ½ hours to put together.  If you have a safety net that comes with the trampoline, it will take an additional hour to setup. Plan for a 4-hour setup time to give you some cushion. If you have more than 1 person putting the trampoline together, it can reduce the time by about half.

Frame Setup Time

So, how long does it take to put together a trampoline? The time it takes to put together a trampoline frame will depend on the size and type of trampoline. Smaller, indoor trampolines can be built in 30 minutes.

Larger, outdoor trampolines can take up to 2 hours. This will vary depending on accessories. It is worth noting that when two people build a larger trampoline, it will also be done quicker.

Frame With Safety Net Setup Time

Getting a safety net for a trampoline will take about an hour. When you add this to the trampoline frame build, you are looking at a total time of close to three hours. Again, this can vary depending on trampoline size.

Allow up to 4 hours for construction time to make sure you are not rushed and get the job done properly.

14-foot Trampoline Setup Time

Assembly of a 14-foot trampoline will not take too much longer than the smaller 10-foot models. There will just be additional parts. A little longer will be needed for spring assembly as there will be more springs.

You should not expect assembly to take much more time and allow for the same 3 to 4 hours to make sure you get everything done properly without rushing.

Skywalker Trampoline Setup Time

Skywalker is one of the top names in trampolines. As a popular choice, you probably want to know how long assembly time is for these. The overall time will depend on the Skywalker model you get, but generally, building time will be between 2 and 3 hours.

The larger the trampoline is, the more springs there will be. This means it will take longer to build. Use handy spring tools or get a partner to help you to cut down the time.

Springfree Trampoline Setup Time

Springfree trampolines sound like they may be quicker to install. However, these typically take upwards of 4 hours to build as they have a tricky installation process. You do get a very detailed manual and instructions to help guide you through the process.

A lot of people hire a professional trampoline assembly crew to build Springfree trampolines or bring over a handful of friends for the ordeal.

How Difficult Is It To Assemble A Trampoline

We answered, how long does it take to put together a trampoline? Now, how hard is it? Attaching springs are the most time-consuming part of the trampoline building process. The process needs to be done carefully and takes time, but it is not difficult.

Some models like the Springfree trampolines are tedious to build, but most are not. With our guide and instructions in the trampoline kit, you can get the trampoline built without too much stress.

How To Assemble A Trampoline Frame

The first part of trampoline installation is the frame. Put together the circular pieces you have. You want to lay these out first so you can see the size the trampoline will be.

Make sure it is in a location that you want. That way you do not have to move it once it is built. Snap the parts together and when done, the ring will be laying complete and flat on the ground.

Next, is the leg assembly. There will be places on the ring for the legs. The legs should fit in easily, but you can use your mallet or a hammer if they do not. Make sure you do not hit them too hard and use a barrier like a towel so as not to dent or damage the poles.

Secure the legs using bolts and screws provided in the kit. Make sure all parts of the frame are in their correct position before securing with bolts. Double check all screws and bolts when done to ensure all are tightly fastened.

You can use a power drill instead of a screwdriver if you want to work faster.

With the help of a friend, turn the frame over. One of you needs to be on each side when doing this. Make sure the frame is not wobbly. If it is, you need to look over all parts and screw in any parts that are not secured.

Tools Needed

Some kits will come with the tools that you need but if not, it helps to know ahead of time what to buy. This way you are prepared if they are not included. To build your trampoline, you will need:

  • A phillips screwdriver
  • A spring pull/spring tool
  • Rubber mallet (to install the springs properly)

Get an affordable and reliable rubber mallet from Amazon, if the kit does not include one. They are handy to have around the house anyway.

Make sure you check all the packages and empty each one that comes with the trampoline kit. Double check that you have all the pieces needed. A missing piece stops you from building as it will not be safe to use.

Be sure to contact the manufacturer for any missing pieces. Organize all the parts so you can easily identify them as you go through the instructions.

How Tall Is A Trampoline

The height of a trampoline from the ground to the top and can range from 2 feet to 8 feet. Typically, larger trampolines are around 3 feet from the ground.

The total height will be between 6 feet for small trampolines and up to 8 feet for larger trampolines with safety enclosures.

Below are the average sizes of circular trampolines with enclosures, but this can vary by brands and models.

  • 8 feet diameter frame: around 7 feet in height
  • 10 feet diameter frame: around 8 feet in height
  • 12 feet diameter frame: around 8.5 feet in height
  • 14 feet diameter frame: around 8.5 feet in height

How Much Does A Trampoline Weigh

The trampoline mat and the frame will be the heaviest components. The springs and poles are not as heavy. Smaller trampolines can weigh as little as 60 lbs, but the larger ones will weigh over 200 lbs. Make sure you have someone to help you with any lifting

How Many Springs Are On A Trampoline

The size of the springs used will vary for each size of trampoline. For example, a 10-foot trampoline used springs that are 5.5 inches as opposed to a 16-foot trampoline that takes 7-inch springs.

On average however, the number of springs will be 96 pieces. There will be slightly more or less as the trampoline size changes.

How To Take Apart A Trampoline Frame

How long does it take to put together a trampoline? Longer than taking it down. This is the easy part. Power tools will help with the taking down. You start with the screws first.

The screws at the top need to be done first and work your way around the frame, keeping the screws in a bag. Pull out the top of the frame as you stand on the base to help pull them free.

You need to remove every second leg as you make your way around. Any stubborn poles can be removed by twisting them a few times to loosen them from the socket. Remove the remaining legs once the top is completely off.

You are now left with the ring, which can be separated into its components. Keep all parts together, separating those for the legs and those for the ring.

Helpful Tips To Put Together A Trampoline

Safety is the top priority when it comes to building a trampoline. You may understand how long it takes to put together a trampoline, but you need to remember not to rush. We recommend these tips to check the structure thoroughly when you are done.

  • Is the frame wobbly? Check that alls crews are secure and tight
  • Check the ground to make sure it is even
  • Make sure the padding is correctly adhered and in place

We also have a few common mistakes that you need to avoid when building your trampoline.

  • Alternate the springs on opposite sides of the trampoline. This helps to keep tension balanced.
  • Always use your mallet to install springs
  • The circular part of the hooks must go on the trampoline and the J-hook connects to the frame
  • Release springs on the opposite side if you are having trouble connecting the last few. This will relieve tension so you can connect them.

Final Thoughts

You understand that safety is essential in building a trampoline, but how long does it take to put together a trampoline? The time depends on several factors such as size, model, and whether you have people helping.

Larger trampolines and those with enclosures will take longer than smaller, simpler models. On average, you should plan for 4 hours to build your trampoline.

Investing in tools to help and getting a friend involved will make the process easier. You need to make sure you are taking time to tighten all screws as rushing can lead to accidents. If you are worried about the time, you can hire an assembly service to take care of it for you.

We understand that a service may not be an option which is why we provided a video and guide to help. With our guide you are not building alone, and the process will not take longer than 4 hours. That is worth it when you compare it to the endless hours of bouncy fun waiting.
